Will of David Amey 1920
« on: Sunday 18 February 18 19:54 GMT (UK) »
On Ancestry, I have found my 2x great grandfather’s probate/will record. Where can I get a copy of the will from?
Thanks.

From here

https://www.gov.uk/search-will-probate

It costs £10 and should be ready to download in about 5 days. Just make sure that it does actually say  "Will" otherwise they may not be anything to see.

Another question: how do I know if there’s a will? I went on the site, put in the death, probate and place. There’s a folio number handwritten next to it.

If you look on the first page of the site it explains the different terms

Quote
Not all grants of representation contain a will. Check the type of grant when you search:

Probate’ or ‘Grant and Will’ - a will exists and will be provided
‘Admon with Will’ or ‘Grant and Will’ - a will exists and will be provided
‘Administration (Admon) or Grant’ - a will doesn’t exist and won’t be provided

As the one you want says Probate, that means there is a will. If you look at the next one down that just says Administration.

Wills arrived in only a few days (got my 3xggf as well).sadly David’s just says he’s splitting everything equally amongst his children but his father in law’s was more detailed and I realised that one of my ggf’s aunts had married someone different to the man I though she had!
Thanks.
