Ellis, Balkan St, Dingle, Liverpool 8
« on: Tuesday 20 February 18 14:59 GMT (UK) »
Annie Grace Jones was born in Holyhead on 28 Feb 1898. In West Derby in the March Qtr of 1923 she married John William Ellis.
In the 1939 Register they were living at 12 Balkan Street, Liverpool 8. Her dob is recorded as 16 Feb 1898 and his as 15 Oct 1891 and he was a Railway Capstanman.
They were still at the same address in 1950 as Annie and her address was given by her brother John Jones, who was in the Merchant Navy, in a Crew Agreement whilst he was bosun on the Tomocyclus. He was still at sea, on the Lembulus, in late 1954 and early 1955 so it is believed he still lived at 12 Balkan Street.
I think these houses have now been demolished, anybody any idea when? Do Electoral Rolls exist for the area and where would they be?
It's thought that Annie Grace Ellis and her husband John William Ellis moved to Caernarfon and died there in the 1970's. Any help on tracing them or John Jones would be much appreciated.

Thank you.
Aled

It is not a good idea to post on two separate boards with similar queries as it leads to people looking for information that has already been found on the other post  ;)

Rosie99 - Thank you very much for the additional information. I didn't think that the same people might read both boards so that's why I posted on both. Sorry and thank you again.

Hi Aled,

Have you looked at the web for the ship Tomocyclus? There is information and pictures regarding this Shell tanker and some crew names - unfortunately John Jones isn't shown but there is a visitors page and perhaps if you made contact someone may know of him or at least give you some pointers.
There is also a web page for Lembulus but it mainly seems to revolve around Lembulus 2 rather than the original vessel.

Alan

Hello Alan.
I hadn't thought of that at all. Will have a look at both pages. Thanks very much for the pointers.
