My Father in Law lived in Crown Buildings and his father owned the Chandlers Shop in the 1940's I am looking into my family history and would welcome any information from anyone who knew the shop

Welcome to Rootschat MOC1.

I was born in Crosby (NB It's Great Crosby, not Greater) and I know Crown Buildings very well.

There's a nice old photo here (1930's I think)

What was the shopkeeper's name?

There was a Mrs Clayton of 2 Crown Buildings advertising in December 1918

Can't see a Clayton there in 1914, 1915 or 1938, nor in my 1929 directory
