McQuaid - Dromore/Trillick
« on: Tuesday 20 February 18 17:53 GMT (UK) »
Charles McQuaid b. 1884 in Tullynichrin, Trillick, Tyrone married Susan Toland in Dromore on 15th Aug 1911. Charles' father was James and mother Sarah Jane Maguire. I cannot find any census records for these people, though there is a pretty close listing under Camus, Strabane area. I don't know what would taken them there, if it is them at all but I'd still love a few leads here, especially on his father and mother - James and Sarah Jane.

Religion?
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

Easily found in 1901 if you search for the townland-

There are also McGrades in same townland likely connected.

James still there in 1911 and luckily he filled out form incorrectly which will give you more clues-

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

42 yrs married 1911, so you can check Civil reg for Marriage.

12 children, 6 living. They could be in Civil Reg too.

Only Sarah Jane, his son was there in 1911.

He aged quite a bit in 10 years!

The 1911 census says (mistakenly as this was asked of women, not men) how many years married, how many children & how many living. Therefore, you have an approximate date of marriage and can start looking for it and all the children's births and deaths in vital records-

Aghadowey, many thanks for that - I did catch on yesterday. I've been searching most of last night and managed to get 8 births, can't seem to get the other three. I have John, Terence, Bridget, Margaret, Charles, Sarah Anne, James Joseph and William. When I locate the remaining births I can start working on the deaths.
