Patrick stephen mansfield
« on: Tuesday 20 February 18 20:25 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I am looking for a birth record and any information for Patrick Stephen Mansfield born about 1845/6 in Ireland possibly Cork. At some stage Patrick moved to Manchester England where he married Annie in 1870 in Chorlton, Manchester although in some census it appears as Agnes (if anyone knows why there is a change in name). Patrick was a ‘wood carver’. His father was James Mansfield.  Patrick died in 1915 and is buried in Manchester.

Thanks

Gill

Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.

Hi

Thanks for your replies. I will forget about the name Annie and presume that it was an error on the completion of 1891 census form.

Hallmark ..I have put the details in as suggested but unfortunately nothing has come up for my Patrick

Thanks

Gill

You said possibly Cork, have you looked at the 1911 Census it usually gives more detail for birthplace.

Hi Sinann

Yes I saw 1911 census and everything seems to fit but was a bit hesitant as on everything else he states Patrick Stephen and not Stephen. However both wood carvers.

Thank you for pushing me forward

Hello,

He calls himself Stephen in 1871 census but gives his birthplace as New York   ??? The names are mixed up too so may not be reliable.

1871 3997/100/15

1911 index shows Cork as birthplace.

Pity, it didn't say where in Cork.

I wonder if the marriage cert says if his father was still living or not and did it have an occupation for him.
Death certs are fairly scarce in Ireland but just trying to narrow down the search area.
