I will post this as he is the only one I can see at the moment. Was Patrick, a Catholic?

Catholic registers https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0079

https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000634730#page/95/mode/1up

Patrick Mansfield baptised 9th April 1844 to parents Jane’s Mansfield and Mary Don.. I suspect she is Donovan as there are other children baptised to the couple and the name is more clear.

Other children

Bess Mansfield 19th May 1839
James Mansfield 23rd January 1843
Ellen Mansfield 22nd January 1846

The address on the baptisms shows Chapel Road, Middleton

There is a census 1842 showing Chapel Road and whilst there are Donovans, I only see one Mansfield family - not James.  :-\

Hi Gill I will have a look at the church registers in Midleton & see if I can locate Patricks baptism.
www.nationalarchives.ie Griffiths Valuation records has 2 entries one for a Patrick Mansfield Greenes Lane Midleton the 2nd for John Mansfield Chapel Road Midleton. These records were mid 1850's

The 1901 Census above site has 19 entries for Mansfields in Midleton.

Hi Ballydw

Thank you very much. Patrick married in Chorlton in Manchester in 1870. I am not sure when he came to Manchester from Ireland

Gill

Hi ballydw,

Do you not think that the one I found is the right one in Midleton?
It is not know where Patrick came from in Cork, but that is the only one I can see where there is a father James.

Hi Heywood its a strong possibility but on checking irish genealoy site I cannot see a death for the father JAMES maybe he died before civil reg have also checked the cemetery memorials no result- too recent ones I found. I am familiar with the family & its easier to physically look at the registers rather than online.  Great find that you pinned the family down to midleton Mansfield not a common name in these parts. Rgds will also have a look for marriage of the parents you posted

I see.
I looked for deaths too and a marriage for the parents but nothing yet. I didn't try to follow Godparents though.
