I would look for his benefactor, since he changed his name from Frederick Henry to Frederick Bolingbroke Ribbans. Wills for instance from the Bolingbroke family, not necessarily males, women who married into the family as well may have a relationship to the Ribbans. Or maybe his second wife's family (Williams) was connected to the Bolingbroke family.

He married first at age 20, not a career move for someone who later became a cleric, his second marriage at age 26.

Someone paid for his Cambridge education and he is listed as a ten year man so perhaps due to family obligations it took him ten years to complete if that what it means.

Thank you all for all your help.

I get the impression that Frederick Ribbans formed his friendship with the "Bolingbroke's" and decided to adopt the name as a 2nd name. Going thru the bapt. registers for St.Peter Mancroft I did find several baptisms for some Bolingbrokes.

I have managed to download all the images you refered to and will now try and find some Wills.

The Welsh Newspaper Archive was interesting but I failed to find any meaningful history that may have listed he birth, parentage etc.

He married first at age 20, not a career move for someone who later became a cleric, his second marriage at age 26.
I believe it was his son  who became a cleric (East Frederick Thomas Ribbans) and was ordained a Deacon in 1845. He also became a teacher/lecturer at Thomas Powell school in Carmarthen.

Thanks to all,

Alan
