Thanks for that link, I reckon it's probably her I've just found a Cate Pillage living with her mother and grandmother 1851 and with her grandmother in 1861 in Dodbrooke, Kingsbridge. So presumably the father's surname was White, or something like that.

Yes I can’t easily see what happened to Maria Pillage.  She was baptised at Tavistock 13 May 1831, daughter of John (wheat comber) and Elizabeth, of Matthew St.

I looked at a possible marriage for her Mar qtr 1857 Exeter, but that Maria (who married William Joseph Henderson) was 24 and named her father as William Pillage, labourer.
