Beatrice Ash, Hiam

In 1895 George Ash married Beatrice Hiam in Gloucester.  They appear to have had 2 children

Beatrice Maud born 1896 and Victor Percy born 1904

On the GRO Record site, Beatrice's mother's maiden surname is Burford. (there is no record of George Ash marring anyone with the surname of Burford)

Victor's mother's maiden name is Hiam.

Any help would be appreciated

Surely Beatrice being the widow of a mr Hiam would explain the anomaly.

What is Beatrice's birthyear/birthplace?

Don't see any marriages for Beatrice marrying a Hiam so far - or alternative.

I wonder if George's mother was a Burford and George was the informant and got his names mixed up - Registrar asked him for mother's mn and he gave his own mother's.

The child born in 1896 seems to have been Gwendoline Maud, rather than Beatrice Maud.

Yes AVM, you are correct my mistake.  Gwendoline was baptised on the 10th June 1896 at St Luke's Gloucester, gives Beatrice and George as parents.

On the banns for George and Beatrice she is recorded as spinster.

On the marriage cert Beatrice's father is George Hiam.

It would be advisable to purchase the BC for Gwendoline to establish who her mother was.
