“Alonso” Halls was registered at birth as Alonzo Halls, Jun qtr 1879 Pancras.

There is an Alonzo Halls of the right age (born London City, per 1901) who seems to have spent his life in asylum institutions as an “imbecile” - in Darenth in 1891, Watford by 1901, died Watford 1904 aged 25.

Workhouse records for St Pancras show that he was sent to Leavesden Asylum (Watford) on 1 June 1900.

Thank you to Lostris and AVM - at least I have a few more scraps as a result of you looking...

I haven't looked up those schedules Lostris but will do so - it's a good thought.

However perhaps I'm not quite so close to dementia as I thought and still have three brain cells rather than two as I was beginning to think. I now tend to believe it may be that the family was missed in the census as has been suggested.
Thank you for such quick and informed replies.

There is an Esther Hall age 7 as Niece of Henry and Phoebe Lewis and family at 24 Johnson Street St Pancras in 1881.

If Mum is Selina, maybe daughter is known as Esther...

RG11/201/Folio 55, Page 47

When Selina Esther Halls marries in 1896, she marries a Thomas Lewis and both Halls and Lewis family list address as Johnson Street.

Do we know how the Lewis family tie in to the Halls?
SMITH - Brewood/Coven, Staffs; FORSTER, Staffs; BIGGS - Lidlington, Beds; WILLCOCKS, Devon/South London; ALLEN - IOW/SouthLondon

You are right about the daughter being known as Esther. I have one instance  of her mother as Selina Esther Halls but I'm afraid I do not know anything of the Lewis connection. This part of the family is somewhat remote from my main family lines. I did have a note that mentions she marries but took it no further. My current preoccupation is with the Roberts'.....but thank you - I have one more name!
