"Sarnau Bach" Nr Llangeitho
« on: Wednesday 21 February 18 15:42 GMT (UK) »
I'd be very grateful if anyone could find out anything about an "Evans" family who lived here around 200 years ago. This would include a David (Born circa 1805) , his father Evan, a wife Elizabeth (also Evans prior to marriage) , a daughter Mary and a son , probably also Evan.

Check welshnewspapers online for "Sarnau bach".

There's a lengthy tribute to "E. S. Evans, Ysw, mab David, ac wyr i'r diweddar hybarch Evan Evans, Sarnau Bach ..."

That's him. He emigrated to the United States in 1844, and I'm helping a descendant. The American family seem to have mixed up 'Llanbadarn Odwyn' and 'Llanbadarn y Creuddyn' , and for the wife, 'Llanarthen' (Carmarthen) with what I think is Llangeitho.

Possible?

1870 U.S Census
David Evans, 65, miner, born Wales
Elizabeth Evans, 62, born Wales
Miles Evans, 28, born Ohio

The are living in Tallmadge, Summit County, Ohio - a suburb of Akron. The Gladgawr article refers to Evan and parents arriving 1844 and parents settling in Akron (although Miles' birth year is 1842 according to census)
