Drowned in Canal
« on: Thursday 22 February 18 16:32 GMT (UK) »
My first post.   A Death Certificate states:

FRANCIS GARRETT, aged 36, a collier, was found on May 19 1867 in the parish of Mynyddyslwyn, Newport.
"Information received from W.H.Brewer Coroner for Monmouthshire.  " Inquest held May 28 1837."  "Drowned in the Monmouthshire Canal but how he came thence is no evidence to prove."

Searched for newspaper story and copy of inquest proceedings without any luck.  If he is MY Francis Garrett he has a wife Mary Ann Luke and three children.

Any help or suggestions appreciated.

Thank  you so much.  Can't think how I missed that news article.  Not being buried at home in Llanhilleth clearly has some implication.  Francis 4 was born just after his death.  It is all quite sad.

Also just realised I should not have posted here as it is not a general query....Oops, sorry!
