1893 Marriage of Frederick Udale at Wirksworth
« on: Friday 23 February 18 11:19 GMT (UK) »
There is some uncertainty about who the bride for Fredrick Udale was when he married at St Mary's Wirksworth Derbyshire on 24 December 1893.
It might help with the problem if there was a newspaper report of the marriage.
Please could someone advise me on what newspaper covered the area at the time and hopefully if there is an archive?

Have you tried contacting Derbyshire Record Office, or possibly Wirksworth Library  :-\
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!
If you don't ask the question, you won't get an answer.

From NormanE
I have the wedding certificate in front of me which was amended locally in 1897 to Caroline Davis ,
The original certificate is entered as Annie Yeomans Davis  and is signed as Annie Newmans Davis.
I hoped a newspaper angle my give clues as to the relatives of the bride.

To put people in the picture there’s a whole other thread about this very curious marriage entry and the wholesale amendments made, regarding the identity of the bride and her father, some considerable time later:

The parish register image, showing the amendments made in 1897, is available on Ancestry.

Hi NormanE,

If you have the civil certificate now, please would you post the information on the other thread. I wrote on there re the likelihood of a newspaper report - or unlikelihood, I suppose  :).

You could perhaps try here https://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/leisure/local_studies/local_studies_libraries/local_libraries/belper/default.asp

All I wanted to know and still want to know if there was a local newspaper reporting on Wirksworth Derbyshire affairs in 1893. If so are there copies available?
