It looks possible (free searches) that Albert John b 1911 was in Trowbridge in 1939 and died there in 1967.

Possible marriage: Albert J Spencer to Doris M Emms, Mar qtr 1941 Trowbridge.

" Mr W Spencer". That does not sound like my Albert John with father Alfred William

Mr & Mrs T. Pollard of Silver Street Lane, Trowbridge were Thomas (b 1878) and Lucy L (b 1864).

Possibly married Mar qtr 1900 Stroud as Thomas Pollard & Lucy Lavinia Hopper.

Edit: now confirmed from his Army records that he married Lucy Lavinia Hopper, spinster, at Slade, Gloucestershire, on 26 Feb 1900.

Thomas Pollard’s WW1 Army record names his adopted son as Albert John Spencer Pollard, born 24 April 1911 Colchester.

This may in fact be the adoption date or perhaps a baptism date, as Albert’s birthdate is given elsewhere as 8 April 1911.
