Often I click on records marked 'free' and either get a splash screen of random records or an invitation to subscribe. (I do have an account, as specified) Many records are OK, even though you have to do screen grabs as the download option is disabled.

I have deleted all my Ancestry cookies.

Is anyone else experiencing this?  I have submitted a support request for the 'splash' problem.

I've been having similar problems, clicking on a free view and getting the subscribe screen or not being able to download records.  I've no idea if it is what made the difference but I clicked on the link from the lost cousins newsletter and I was able to view and download records, worth a try :)

I did initially use the wonderful LostCousins link.  It has now gone totally the other way and I can see a lot more than I should...

I've given up on Ancestry. I can't even locate records I know exist.
The records that come up are seldom similar to the search!

I've also noticed it that it says UK and Ireland records are free, and last time Nicola Sturgeon checked, that included Scotland, but I can't open Scottish records, even though Ancestry seems to push them at me.

If I was a brand new user, I wouldn't be impressed.

"..having trouble with Ancestry Free Day today?"

Yes! As always. ::)  "How to" videos make searching the site look easy, but following their advice makes no difference. A broad search produces many pages of mostly irrelevant results; it tells you that adding known information will help, but narrow the search even slightly, and it says no results meet the criteria. I ask for Lanarkshire, Scotland and it gives results from Massachusetts. I specify an exact name or place, and it gives a random assortment.
Ancestry's vast range of information keeps tempting me back for another try, but it frustrates me at every turn. I've been yelling at the computer screen again. Time to give up for now.

GRAY - Inveresk; Lanarkshire
LINDSAY - Lanarkshire
PURDIE - Lanarkshire; W. Lothian
POZZI - Elgin; Lancashire
MACKENZIE, MORISON - Isle of Lewis
ARCHIBALD, HAY, HUNTER, SNADDON - Clackmannanshire
COXON, HALL, JACKSON, SHOTTON - Northumberland
