Spanish American War Records

An ancestor of mine served and was injured in the Spanish American War on the USS St. Paul. I'd really like to get my hands on a photo of him, is there ever a chance of a photograph being included with service or pension records ordered through NARA? Are there other resources (databases, etc.) I might be able to use to search for something like this?

Photos are a challenge. Pension records will not include a photo, nor will muster roils. There may be photos of crew members out there, but the names of the people in group photos published in books are not generally recorded. Picking someone out of a crowd simply based on the face is not actually reliable (i.e., that person looks like a relative doesn't go to far).

The best chance for a photo is with your family!

How was he injured? When did it occur.? He may be named in reports that are available.

There is a partial muster roll of the ship online at https://spanamwar.com/stpaulroster.htm
