McBrides-Ireland emigration to Argyll and Lanarkshire
« on: Saturday 24 February 18 05:08 GMT (UK) »
Looking for the birthplace in Ireland of John McBride  b.1801 in Ireland (local is unknown).  He married Margaret Hunter (presumably in Ireland).  They emigrated to Campbeltown Scotland somewhere between 1826 and 1832, given their children's POB in the Scotland Census.  I can't find Margaret's death information but she preceeded James in death.  He died 1 Apr 1871 in Partick, Lanarkshire.  My beginner skills have hit a wall.  Any direction will be greatly appreciated!

@ wemorin,  try a post on the Kintyre Website, most likely they went to Campbeltown for the fishing, many Antrim folks did!

Do you have the family together in the census returns in Scotland,
it will help narrow down when and where Margaret died
Gunning County Down,Kneale Isle of Man,Riddle Tynemouth,Bibby Kendal/Bradford,Colenso Penzance/Barrow-in-Furness,Steele Corney Fell,Chapman Ely,Dawes Alfreton,Blamire Westmoreland and Ulverston

Rosie-Thank you.  I will look there.

Radcliff- Yes, I know her death was after the 1861 census and before John died in 1871 as he is listed as a widower.  I can't seem to find her death record/certificate which is one of the struggles I'm having now.

Skoosh-Thank you for the hint.  I shall look there.

Mc Bride and Hunter names common in North Antrim , try Parish of Culfeightrim, Barony of Carey.
