 Checked at Cessnock family history group this morning and he is on Beresfield Crematorium list.

 looked at Cessnock Advertiser for you. It only came out weekly. 1st march and 7th  march 1968. Obviously  not 1st march and it was not in notices 7th March .
 It may have been in Newcastle Herald which is daily, but we do not have his paper. You could try Newcastle Family history group as they probably have access.
