Stephen Crane 1792 has grt grdparents named Streat on both sides
« on: Tuesday 27 February 18 19:53 GMT (UK) »
Today's conundrum not so easy.
Stephen Crane 16 Sep 1792 Chobham, Surrey (my grt x 3) has a great grandmother on his father's side named Sarah Streat Feb 1678 Chobham, Surrey.
He also has a great grandfather on his mother's side named James Streat c 168? Chobham, Surrey.
At that time Chobham was a small village.
I have a feeling there could well be a link between the two Streats but I can't find it.
Any thoughts from you very clever lot.

I'm switching off now, so will be here tomorrow.

I’m not sure if this will help but it might provide inspiration for others?

Freereg Baptisms Cobham father Henry

No record for Sarah born, Feb 1678 but the above appear to be the only records for a family of that name on Freereg?

Very many thanks ColC.

Will add all that to file and maybe gradually build up a picture.

So I guess that confirms the link James was the father of Frances and Sarah was her aunt.

It looks likely but I still don't have proof that Henery was father to both Sarah and James,

Possible father for Henery, I have only as c 1650 an estimate, so the given date of 1640 is poss.
Bisley is only two miles from Chobham.

I mean Chobham, ColC has put in the Cobham I just noticed that, might have misled me a bit.
