I'm used to reading Scottish certificates. it nearly always takes that form ~

Father's name
occupation

Mother's name
Maiden surname

Also deceased is entered if the person is dead.

I think what confused me was it said Tenant and Eric On the other certificates the wife is usually on a separate line.
