Nailer and slater

A male ancestor is described as "nailer" in 1861 census.

A person with same name is later described as a "slater"

Could a nailer be a slater? - is it same or similar job?

A Nailer/Nailor/Naylor/Nellier "a person who made iron nails by hand using a mould."

but could a nailer - also be a slater? making nails etc could lead to job as slater? -
