Photograph date from clothing of Children on the Green
« on: Wednesday 28 February 18 12:25 GMT (UK) »
Hello Rootschatters.
I am trying to date the attached photo. I guess at Edwardian, but it might be earlier. It definitely falls between 1880 and 1920 when the name of Charles Cork appeared above the local shop (cropped out). Beyond that, I have only the children's clothing, and possibly the quality of the photograph, to go by. Any ideas or opinions are welcome.
Many thanks, from Scobie

Edwardian era would be right for this one.

Could be Edwardian but I think a bit earlier. 1890's. For no other reason that straw boaters were very common at this time & you don't see them much in the 1900's.

I realise that it is impossible to date many old photographs precisely without extra information being available. So, by including Jim1's suggestion, I will adjust the notation on this photograph to between 1890 and 1910 - approximately what I originally estimated. But it is so reassuring to have outside confirmation.
Many thanks to everyone, from Scobie

Shame that there is no photographer's info but at least you have a time frame.
