Name of Brother and Codecil details
« on: Wednesday 28 February 18 14:05 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I am hoping someone here can help me with the following extracts [both from the 1671 Will of Ann Morcocke of Liddington, Wiltshire].

In extract 1 Ann names the two people she appoints as Overseers. The first appears to be "Henry Phillips Holder" but I am unclear of the second person's name. It looks like either "Wm Roade" or Wm Bearde" and he appears to be described as "my brother"

The second extract appears to be a codicil in which Ann mentions her  grandchildren [Henry Illes, William Ills, Ann Ills] and someone named Ann Chamberlayne. However I am having problems with the bits between the names. Can anyone help me decipher this piece?

Many Thanks

Matt

Thanks for that.

It's good to see I wasn't far off with Roade.

Thanks for that. Henry, William and Anne were the children of Anne's daughter Joane Morcock who was married to Henry Iles [or Illes]. Previously I knew nothing about Joane's family or background so it is nice to now be able to give her mother a name and identify some siblings.

I wonder who Anne Chamberlayne was? Another relative perhaps.

Many thanks again.
