A marriage for Benjamin James Marshall
« on: Wednesday 28 February 18 17:48 GMT (UK) »
Hi all

I've been searching for a while for a marriage between Benjamin James Marshall (1851-1890) and his wife Sarah (abt. 1852-1892). Benjamin is from Bedminster and Sarah from Bath. In the censuses Benjamin goes by his second name James. I've never been able to find a marriage or an 1871 census, but the couple had their first child, Alfred, in Bristol in 1872. Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Samuel

Hi Rosie,

Thank you very much. Why might the marriage be registered as being in 1884 when Alice Rosina was born in 1874? Could there have been some error in the transcription?

GRO index and parish registers give marriage as 1884.  It is more likely that they did not get around to getting married until then.
