William Bartley Montgomery born about 1823 Cavan Ireland

Hi looking for information on Williams parents. He was a surveyor who came to Australia in the ship Champion to undertake survey work with Sir Thomas Mitchell. He then went to New Zealand in 1842. He married Harriet Pilkington in 1853. I have lots of information on his time in NZ but nothing about his family in Ireland.

I noticed you were investigating a Montgomery, my great grandmother was a Montgomery and lived in Cavan. I did a bit of googling and found This obituary page for WB Montgomery:

    My husband's great grandmother Rose Mason nee Synnot was an illegitemate daughter of Parker George Synnot. Born about 1856 and sent to New Zealand about 1861-64 and was fostered by William Bartley Montgomery and family. Several of us are trying to find her birth mother, ship she was on and with whom and the year she arrived in NZ. We have quite a bit on her NZ life after marriage etc.
    Her mother could have been the daughter of a cobbler or miller.
    Hope someone can help.

You are always good at providing information, the link you posted in reply to amiatk has information on Farnham House, my grandfather (his mother was Isabella Montgomery) worked for Lord Farnham so I’m going to take a look at this.

When Farnham got married in London one of mine gave the Welcome Home speech.... got a Thank You letter afterwards and envelope has a Penny Black stamp on it!  Not in my possession....   :'(

Does William Bartley Montgomery's marriage and/or death certificates give details of parents?

His death certificate lists his parents as Jane and George
