Mary had a half-brother James - her mother gave birth to James Longridge 25/12/1888 (reg'd 1889) and, as with Mary, mother Elizabeth put in a decree for paternity against a David McDowall, fisherman.

There are two possible children born to James and Minnie.
If they are the children of above, then they don't appear to have married pre 1953

Wow I am blown away by how incredibly helpful everyone has been here, not to mention efficient.
Yes I believe that you're all very much correct and that Mary Rennie Longridge is my great grandmother!
I honestly don't know how to express my sincerest thanks. This has been a curiosity for me since I can remember and you lot have solved in for me with such unbelievable speed.
I've got a lot of fact checking to do and I've certainly got to work out some specific details but honestly I would have still been entirely in the dark if it weren't for everyone here. I cannot thank everyone enough.
