Death records for Alameda, California
« on: Friday 02 March 18 14:59 GMT (UK) »
I have been searching Family Search in the hope of finding a death record for George Howlett, born Shoreditch in 1823. I have only recently discovered that he went to America with his two daughters, Emma and Eliza and his niece Ellen Newman.

I have him on the 1900 census with Ellen in Alameda and the record states that their year of immigration was 1889. I also have him on the 1910 census, again in Alameda, with his son in law Ellison C Sisson, Emma now married to Ellison, and Eliza.

He isn't with Ellison and Emma on the 1920 census so I am assuming he died between 1910 and 1920 but I cannot find a death on Family Search.

Does anyone know if death records for Alameda are available on Family Search and if they are, what am I doing wrong?

Many thanks

RJ137, thank you so much for that. I've been going round in circles but within a very short time you have given me death records for George, Ellen (not Mrs, but I expect more respectable than Miss) and Eliza whose death record was just above George's.

I haven't looked for Emma Sisson's death yet, but the way things are going I wont be surprised if George outlived her as well as his wife and all their children!

Many thanks, I really appreciate your help.
