Researching at the RCB Library?
« on: Friday 02 March 18 18:11 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

I'm planning a trip to Dublin in April. I want to spend a good two days at the Representative Church Body Library, as all of my Irish ancestors were COI (from what I can tell). I have consulted the catalogue online and it looks like the library holds many registers relevant to me!

Any tips? Are the parish register books available to search, or are they on microfilm? Additionally, I read that no photos are allowed and a digital copy costs 10 Euros! Is it possible to bring a notepad and write down transcriptions of relevant entries (I expect I will want to note a good number of entries for potential peripheral relatives so I can figure out how they fit in my tree later on).

Lastly, is it true that all Co Carlow Protestants records are online now at Irish Genealogy dot ie? The catalogue seemed to indicate otherwise.

Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

Thank you.

I'm still wondering about my other questions (Co Carlow question has been answered).
