I've tried just concentrating my research on Catherine or Eliza Ann (name variants, wildcard, BMD, immigration etc)...nothing on Irish Genealogy, FamilySearch, Ancestry...
But maybe it's worth starting afresh and going over information again. There's so much of it, it's very possible I've missed things along the way.

Thank you for all your time and suggestions. It has brought to light some of the weaker areas of my research I need to go back on.

Sorry to dig up an old post - but no way of private messaging. SJ Bann - I think our family tree maybe crosses with your GGG Grandfather John... let me know if you're still on this site!

Welcome to Rootschat  :) you need 2/3 posts before you can use Personal Message system (reply here with something brief like 'okay' and that should do it)
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hi Costley111,

Apologies, I have just seen your post.

I will need to look back on my research. I have been doing much the last few years.

I'll get back to you about John Costley.

Take care

A warm hello from Halifax, Nova Scotia! This is my first post on RootsChat.

I am endeavouring to research a family tree for my father for his upcoming 80th birthday as a surprise. He is from Saint John NB and Irish on both sides.

I'm looking for any parental or sibling information for ELLEN COSTLEY b. circa 1835. Based on my research I believe she may have come from Antrim/Armagh/Down area. She emigrated from Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada (without family, perhaps) some time prior to 1854, when she was married in Saint John. I have done a fair bit of research through all the "usual channels" including DNA and I'm hoping other Costley/Costly family researchers out there might help piece this one together. Cheers from here, Anne
