McCormick Liverpool UK date please
« on: Saturday 03 March 18 15:16 GMT (UK) »
I'm trying to date this photo,
Locations I have are:
1901 census Dundee (where they used the name McCormick)
1909-1910 electoral register Liverpool (became McCormack)
1911 census Liverpool
They were born John in 1857 and Rose Ann 1859, they had 10 children (poss 11) all in Scotland. They had their final child in Aug 1900 in Dundee.
If it is any help, John was a ropemaker, I think the sort you tie ships up with, latterly a foreman.

No expert, but I'm thinking late Edwardian when John and Rose would have been into their 50s. Could it be a picture with their first grandchild perhaps?
Anyway, here's a tidy for you, and the experts might be along in a while to clear up the dating.

The writing on the card suggests it was taken in Liverpool I think.   :-\

J W Blase was working and living at that address from 1881 - 1911.      You say they were in Liverpool 1909-1911.  That might be the clue.

I wondered 1880s but it could be later, in the 1880s they were in Glasgow,
the children roughly went as follows
1877, 1881, 1882, 1885, 1887 born Shettleston
1890, 1892, 1894, 1897, 1900 born Dundee
There is one I haven't found yet, as the 1911 census says 11 children born alive, 10 living.
My aunt thought that it was possibly my grandfather, so 1887/1888. And that would be between Shettleston and Dundee, though they were certainly in Dundee for the 1891 census.
Not a grandchild. And my Great-grandmother seemed to hang on to clothes and wore them even if they were out of fashion.

He was there from 1881 - 1911 it says on the bit I read about him.    ;)

Must say I would have guessed 1890s from the woman's sleeves, though they are fuller towards the cuff, so that put me off a bit.

They look in their 40s which would suggest 1900-1909 ish.

Looking at them. they could be even older.Even early 50s.  My grandmother was 37 when the photo was taken that I use for my avatar.

Are you sure they didn't have grandchildren? Or - are they the people who are mentioned on the backing. Maybe someone thought they were and wrote those names down. One of my distant relatives was convinced that a photo was of our 3 x great grandmother until I produced evidence that it wasn't.
