Army Pensioner before 1881

My grt grandfather Ralph RILEY born abt 1830 Ireland is shown has a Army Pensioner on is 1901 death certificate but I can not find any records of him in the army.  He got married in Manchester in 1874 and was not in the army then.  Where should I look to try and find any details?

You could try looking in the Chelsea Pensioner Out-pensioners Index if he was in the Army.

There was a Ralph Reilly in the 81st Regiment. Admitted to pension in 1869, was in Manchester in 1872. Can't find his discharge papers as yet.

I think I've found the discharge papers. If you are looking in the army service records on FindMyPast, check out Ralph "Keilly ", born 1830 in Meath, served in 81st Regiment.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.
