Hi again

27 Nov 1867
Jeremiah Hawkins and his wife Anne "nee WHELAN" of Main Street, Wexford had a son William Henry.
They also had a daughter Anne Elizabeth born 1867.
There may have been other children.

1901 Census
Jeremiah and Anne Hawkins still living at Main Street, Wexford.
With them are Peter and Patrick Whelan, both Single and stated to be Jeremiah's Brothers-in-Law.

1911 Census
Patrick Whelan, age 73, also Single is living with Mary Anne O'Donohoe - and stated to be her Uncle.
Also with her is her son Patrick, age 27.

Searching for the birth of Patrick around 1884, I found that Mary Anne was formerly a Hawkins before marrying Patrick Donohoe (no 'O') and they were the parents of Patrick O'Donohoe mentioned above and in the 1911 census.

I think you should re-consider these folk as 'your' Whelans

Cheers

LH

Oops

William Henry Hawkins was born 22 Oct 1865 and it was his sister Anne Elizabeth who was born 27 Nov 1867.

Apologies

Good Morning!

I reconsidered the family you "found" for me yesterday.  It almost works.  I desperately want it to work.  So may I ask your advice on two issues]?

It's all predicated on the woman Anne Whelan who married Jeremiah Hawkins.  But I HAVE no Anne Whelan in my list of Whelan children.  That's why I dismissed this the first time I saw it.  How likely is it that the church would have missed a baptism? I have all the baptismal records of the 8 Whelan children and Anne is not one of them.  There is a Mary who is not accounted for. Is it possible that this woman went by two names?

Also, Patrick's age in the 1901 census is 10 years off?  How significant is that?

Here are the baptism dates of the 8 children of John and Bridget(Stafford) Whelan: Peter 1828, Catherine 1831, Margaret 1833, Patrick 1836, Mary 1839, John 1842, Stephen 1844, Elizabeth 1846.  All Rathangan/Duncormick.  I double-checked again last night and there is no Mary in the parish registers.

Thank you again for your help.  Looking forward to hearing from you.  Your advice will help me decide what to do next.

:-)
