Aldridge
« on: Sunday 04 March 18 23:16 GMT (UK) »
Hi there people...

Please could I have a little assistance in marrying up Hampshire, Suffolk and Edinburgh, Scotland with a touch of London!!!

Mary Aldridge1842-1891 was b Southampton, Hants  Her mother is Mary Burrett [possibly Barrett.]
Mary's father is George Aldridge bapt Eling, Hants 1813.

In 1841 the family is in Marchwood, Hampshire with
George aged 25 b in county and Mary 30 b out of county
George aged 3 b 1837 out of county [George Senior states he is a soldier on Junior's baptism.] and Eliza aged 1 b Scotland.

In 1851 we find the family in Paddington with
George 38 b Eling Hants    [Mary Senior has completely disappeared]    with Wife Ann  36 b Portobello, Scotland
George 13 b Suffolk, Eliza 11 b Portobello, Mary 9 b All Saints Southampton and Chartotte 3 b Greenland, Scotland  [Greenland is near Inverness, nowhere near Edinburgh]

In 1861 Charlotte aged 14  in St Pancras states she is born in Edinburgh

George had three wives... Mary, [pre 37??]   Ann [post 42 pre 56 ] and Rebecca Sharman Potter nee Forder Jul 56.

What I am after
1.  The date and location of Mary Burrett/Barrett's birth, her marriage to George Aldridge [presumably sometime in the 1830s] and the date and location of her death after 13 Jun 1842 when Mary was born.
2.  The date and location of the marriage, presumably in Scotland of George to Ann and the date and location of her subsequent death.
3    Who is Charlotte's mother??

Thank you very much in anticipation

Best wishes
Mark

You have the same post on 3 different boards with no links shown - recipe for duplicated efforts

Apologies for the multiple posts and thanks to you who have already replied.

To re-cap

Mary Aldridge was b 26 Feb 1842 in Holy Rood Parish, Southampton Daughter of George and Mary nee Burrett. George, living in Cross Street, All Saints is the one who registered her.  Birth Cert.  Her info is well documented with our family.

Mary Burrett/Barrett was Mary aged 30 with George Aldridge in the 41 Census for Marchwood, Hampshire. She is born Out of County, as is George 3, and Eliza 1 b Scotland

Her birth, marriage and death are what I am trying to discover.

On George 1837 Bapt St Peter's, Ipswich Suffolk, it states he was born 11 Sep and that his father was a soldier.

In 1851 in Paddington, Ann 36 b Portobello is the wife of George 38, with George 13 b Suffolk, Eliza 11 b Portobello, Mary 9 b Southampton, and Charlotte aged 3 b Greenland, Scotland

Who is Ann??   I suspect she is the mother of Charlotte because of the six year break.  She is dead by spring 1856 as George remarries in July.

Unless I have this dreadfully wrong!!

Best wishes

Mark ;)
