Wow Sandra and RJ137, thanks so much for all your input and help. Much appreciated.  Will now have to sort it all out into chronological order and see if/where it all fits.

Do we have any ideas on what the family members did as occupations and also the sons that married - did they have any children?

Was there any reason for them living in Quincy?  Was it the centre of something in the 1920's onwards.

Sandi

P.S. does anyone know when the USA 1950 Census will be available to search through?

Your very welcome - always pleased to help.

According to the "72-Year Rule," the National Archives releases census records to the general public 72 years after Census Day. As a result, the 1930 census records were released April 1, 2002, and the 1940 records were released April 2, 2012. The 1950 census records will be released in April 2022.

George Quincy Jnr was a shipfitter according to the 1940 US Census.

Eric was a toolmaker at shipyard.  James was a labourer - sidewalk project.

There father George had been an electric welder in car shop in 1930 - whilst James was an office boy for a telephone directing company.

It would appear George Ritchie Snr born 1886 Arbroath first landed in the USA 20 December 1922 - on the Ausonia.
Wife was Mrs George Ritchie - 41 Culloden Road Arbroath.  Going to brother Thomas Ritchie, 18 Howard Avenue, East Braintree. Essex.
There is a note on the passenger manifest to day George was deaf to ordinary conversation.

Perhaps this gives you the reason why he took his family to Massachusetts.
