Waukiniln of Sorn

I have just come across the following baptism, can anyone pinpoint the abode?

Agnes Findlay, baptised 27/01/1754 Mauchline, abode Waukiniln of Sorn.

Is the baptism you have found a transcription ? Or is it the original document?

Either way could it perhaps be Waulkmill , Sorn ?

Many thanks Looby that looks very likely despite the spelling.

It is from the OPR, which in places is a bit tattered and faded but that particular entry is quite clear but it could be WAUKMILN, if the i & n are joined to make M.

From the history of the mill's published 1967 - 1969, it states it was disused by 1856, as they baptism was 102 years before it's likely that something changed.

Thanks for the information. That means it was Waulkmill 100 years prior to the baptism record of 1754, the first 4 letters on the record are definitely WAUK and the second I now think most likely
MILN, so I am beginning to wonder if this was maybe somewhere near the Mill?

The mill would be waulking cloth, often a former meal mill, easier to adapt than building a new mill.
