Robert Garden and Margaret Bruce
« on: Monday 05 March 18 11:32 GMT (UK) »
Hello For my late brother-in-law's daughters, I am researching the Garden family from St Fergus, Banffshire, Scotland.  I have discovered that a Great uncle of his, Robert Garden who married Margaret Bruce in St Fergus in 1857 emigrated to the USA and the family appear to have lived in Homer Township, Will County, Illinois.  Their five children, Ann, James, Robert, Harriet,John and Margaret, were all born in Scotland and though I have some information from Family Search I wondered when they arrived in the US. It must have been between 1871 and 1881. Also if there might be a family burial plot. I think he died in 1884 and she outlived him possibly by 10 years with a death in 1894.  I would be very grateful for any response.  Thank you isk.

Hi RJ137. Very many thanks for you very useful information, obituaries are such a wonderful source of information.  I also looked at the family tree on FamilySearch - just wondered why Robert's father's name appears as Jakob, his name was John and his mother was Ann Logan.  I suppose he could have been known as Jack.  Always more questions!!
Again very many thanks for your help and interest.  isk
