Where did you get the photo from?  Was it online or from a family collection?

If online - the location should be shown

Hi Carole,

It's one of many photos I have in an old photo album (1870's - 1890's I think) left to me by a relative. Some I can identify but some not - this particular one has a photo on the facing page of, I assume, the young lady in the grave. I know her family and siblings just not the location of the grave.

After replying I realised what a divvy I am as there were the photographers details on the photo!!!

On the original photo - can you make out the surname on the grave to the left - Mary Elizabeth and William ??? and if possible the years of death

Hi Carole,

I've tried tracing the grave that way already - it's Mary Elizabeth Shirtliffe died 1874 and her husband William whose dates I can't read.

Hi Carole,

That sounds right as the family where nonconformists and I had an idea it could be Edgerton but living in South Wales I'm too far away to check. That's excellent, thank you very much for your help - if I ever get up that way again I'll know where to go. If there is ever anything I can help you with let me know - I have a large family tree and my paternal side are all from the Huddersfield area, Gee, Hawkyard, Morton, Mitchell, Gledhill, Rhodes and many more.
