John Oldknow 1709 Smalley died 1783
« on: Tuesday 06 March 18 17:13 GMT (UK) »
I need help folks... .....working on the Oldknows for a friend I come upon a guy  (John Oldknow) who sired at least 12 children.at regular intervals right up to the alleged age of 70...........I don't believe it..particularly s i have an alternative birth date of 1730..he married in 1856 (Hannah Smedley) to a woman born 1733..very reasonable...... Has anybody got definitve proof either way??? .....and !!!!! they are allegedly descended from the OLDNALL's of Worcestershire from 1515..and arrived in Heanor 1600 with the name Oldknow......Although i have done all the work, and got all the paperwor..there's something I don't quite like.....which could lead to my having nightmares!!
Thans in anticipation. Derek

Thanks Trish..again!!....I have the whole story of the Oldknows in all the splendour of the different spellings....and I suppose its possible that we have a superdad up there in Heanor who can father so many children at his advanced age....I suppose having a young wife helps.....!!..or there was something in the water!!...and I suppose also that we have to accept that the dates are right and just get on with it. There is a Marriage Bond (Presbyterian/nitarian for 1756..with ages on it....John is 43 and Hannah 43..but there are no Christenings for 1713..IGI have a "submitted" baptism 24.04.1730..which would solve the problem if you could ever beieve submitted information !!
Thaks again..Derek
