I was wondering if anyone knew what port would have been mainly used to leave England in the North to go to Canada? and where I could find ship lists in England for the 1870's

The earliest Passenger Records kept in the UK date from 1890.

You might be better searching the North American side?
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Darn it, I was hoping you would have better lists in England. I can't find her (my ancestor) in lists in Canada...but I will keep on trying, thank you!

Maybe she took a boat to the US first, and then a Land Border Crossing to Canada?

I would hazard a guess at Liverpool or Glasgow?

As far as I am aware, there were no boats from Newcastle to Canada or the USA?
(But happy to be proved wrong)

Ok good to know, I just assumed Newcastle because it was close but Liverpool and/or Glasgow makes sense, thank you!
