Elizabeth Cannon born c1820 Ugley, Stanstead Mountfitchet or Chelsea help!

Hoping that someone might be able to help.

I am looking for the mother of Elizabeth Cannon, so far I have the following:

Marriage
8 August 1839
At Ugley, Essex parish church. John Chapman b, labourer of Berden father William Chapman labourer. Elizabeth Cannon pauper of Ugley father unknown. (hence the fact I am not trying to find her father atm)  Both of full age. Witnesses William Wright and George Platmore. Both made their mark.

1841 age 20 in Berden Essex with husband John. Born in county.

1851 age 34 in Berden, Essex with husband John an ag lab born Furneaux Pelham and two children, Mary Ann age 9 and Daniel 7 both born Berden.  Elizabeth says she is born Chelsea, Middx.

1861 age 40 in Edmonton, with husband John and son Daniel, Elizabeth says she is born Stanstead Mountifitchet, Essex.

1871 age 52, in Edmonton, with husband John visitor Sarah Cox and 3 grandchildren, the children of daughter Mary Ann Barrett.  Once again she says she is born in Chelsea, London.

1881 age 62, widow, nurse SMS still in Edmonton grandson Samuel and a lodger, again says she is born in Chelsea, London

After that I lose her.

Thank you that looks a definite maybe! I have ordered the certificate and see what it says.  I wish I could definitely tie her down in 1891 but all I have is several maybes!

I think grandson "Samuel" is in fact Lemuel, isn't he?

Lemuel Berti* John James Barret (mmn Chapman), birth reg Dec qtr 1862 Ware.

(*First middle name is indexed as Bertic on GRO, Bertis on his mother's 1873 divorce petition).

I see that, as John Lemuel Barrett, he married in Wood Green on 12 June 1882 (to Charlotte Blair) - witnessed by W.J. Richardson and Rosina Peck.

1891 for "John" & Charlotte and family, including her mother Jesse Blair, in Tottenham: RG12/1069/6/6.  No sign of Elizabeth there, though.

Yes grandson Samuel is actually Lemuel Bertie John James Barrett from there on I have a pretty detailed tree, it is Elizabeth that is my brick in the wall.  I also have a nice tree for Charlotte Blair and the Barretts.

Now I am really puzzled.

I ordered the death certificate for Elizabeth Chapman 1897. I got it today. In most ways it fits beautifully but ........................................

Date of death 6th October 1897. 
Elizabeth Chapman
Died 23 Angel Road, Edmonton. Age 78. Cause of death cerebral haemorrhage. Widow of John Chapman, millers carman. Informant Mary Ann Barrett, daughter in attendance, 44 Huddleston Road, Willesden Green, Middlesex.

I then found a possibility in the 1891 census
Elizabeth Chapman 4 Highbank Cottages, Edmonton
Age 66. Born Chelsea. Widow living on own means. Nephew William Smith age 7 born Edmonton. Neice Louise Waghorn age 5 born Bow
The age is out but ................................

Have been unable to find anything more on the children as yet.

Then it dawned on me Elizabeth's daughter, Mary Ann Barrett nee Chapman, died in 1869 according to my research, or at least husband Samuel remarried in 1884.   I had assumed that Elizabeth Chapman (nee Cannon) had various Barrett grandchildren with her in 1871 and 1881 because their mother had died and found a death that matched, although I have not got the death certificate yet.

Of course there are various possible explanations, including that the Mary Ann Barrett on the death certificate is her granddaughter rather than her daughter, so far I have been unable to find Mary Ann Barrett born 1866 Hoddesdon after 1871.

Any help anyone can provide would be much appreciated.
