William Nathaniel Yates bn 1846 Salford

I'm looking to find out what happened to William Nathaniel Yates, born 6 June 1846 in Salford.  I have him in 1851 at home with his parents (William and Elizabeth) in Salford, in 1861 as a 14 yr old railway labourer with his parents in Chat Moss, Oldham.  Then I can't identify him until his marriage to Elizabeth Loughray at Manchester Cathedral in 1872.  After that, I can't track him again, but he and Elizabeth L don't seem to have any children with mother's maiden name Loughray (or anything similar)
If anyone can look up his marriage at the Cathedral and see what he gives for his occupation and address, I may be able to pick him up again.  I know I could buy his marriage certificate, but he is not a direct ancestor and I'm just trying to tidy up the line.  Thanks in advance
