Sarah Ann Mansell Where did she go?.
« on: Wednesday 07 March 18 19:28 GMT (UK) »
My great grandmother Sarah Ann Mansell(Griffin) was born in 1869 in Water Orton. When my Great Grandfather died in 1908. She signed the death certificate on 16th March as a widow of Drayton Bassett. In 1911 she was aged 42 inmate at Tamworth Union Workhouse. I don't know where she went from there. She may have remarried or she may have died.

Hi Carole

No I haven't even seen it yet.

Until this afternoon I had under question marks Died 1945 aged 75. Death Reg. March qtr 1945 Wednesbury 6b 1029. Then when I was looking at the 1939 register I found a Sarah Mansell born 1869 married to a John Mansell living in Tipton so I think that was her in 1945 its the right area as well.

I never thought of her remarrying, I just thought she may have died sometime and I was never probably going to find out when. Then when I realised today she was a widow at 42 she would only be a  young woman. Maybe she did remarry, She was the mother of ten children already which included two lots of twins and three others dying within a few days of being born.

I am tempted to waste £10 and send for that marriage cert. because there is a death in 1955 Rowley Regis.

Hi Alan

You could put a condition on the application that you only want it if her fathers name was (christian name) Griffin

There are a lot of Sarah Mansell's around!!

The only birth I can find for an Ezekial Plimmer is 1890 - so doubtful about that 1913 marriage

Yeah I know there are a lot of them, that's why I never really tried to find her but I suddenly thought today, People on here like you are brilliant at finding someone and maybe its worth a go. She was actually my Great Grandfather's second wife and not the mother of my granddad. Her father was William. I didn't realise you could put a condition on it. I always get them from the GRO. can I do it on there.
