Yes John thank you that is Griffin.

I will have a look at the full image myself tomorrow when I have access to Ancestry at the records office. They are closed till then. I want to see if I can find William Beresford's(1871) death as well, there isn't one  reg. Ashbourne unlike Sarah in 1932. He may also be alive for the 1939. I have worked out is first wife was Millicent Lee married in 1897,  she died 1910. I can't seem to be able to search on family search. Although I did click on your link and that worked. I have just spent the morning in Drayton Bassett where they lived but sadly the Park Cottages are not there anymore and no one not even one of the main farmers knew where they were.

I now have the image of the marriage and I can see it does say Griffin.

I have also found William's daughter Ellen(Nellie) marriage in 1929 from his first marriage which tells me William died before 1929. He Enrolled for the Royal Engineers Railway Construction Company 27/12/1916 only 9 months after his marriage to Sarah so he probably died in the war.

I have also found the marriage of Annie E Beresford in 1927 which shows she isn't Sarah's daughter Annie Mansell born 1905.

Thank you all for your help

Hi
I think you are right about Griffin. I can see why they indexed it as Griffith, but there's really not enough room there for the letters t, h, and f.
Sorry about the Annie Beresford marriage, we must try and find her!
Look out for free access to UK (and Irish) records on ancestry this weekend (someone will probably start a thread on this now!)

Hi John.

I think Annie was probably adopted, could have been by the Davis family she was with in 1911.

Maybe if I get her birth cert. I may be able to find an Annie ? in the 1939. Then again might have changed her Christian name as well.

Would be nice to have the 1921 census though (if there is going to be one)before I print my book out.
