Welcome to Rootschat -

The Glasgow Burial Records have been digitised and are in the possession of the Mitchell Library in Glasgow. Sadly, unless the position has changed recently, the public don't have direct access to these records and it needs a request by email  to the Mitchell staff to carry out a search. There is a fee for this service which varies depending how much work is involved in the search.

another option if there is a stone is to try sites such as Memento Mori  or Scottish Monumental Inscriptions who have been photographing gravestones in a number of cemeteries.

PS although he may have died in the Victoria don't confine your search to the southside. Where he was buried is more likely to be an area associated with him or with the family.
