There seem to be 2 records for him in 1805,
one states his mother Jean and the other states his mother as Jane.
can any one find their marriage please

Hi,

There are a few John LIGHT marriages to a Jane in the area about the right time, the closest to Fisherton Delamere that I can find is about 6 miles away,

Parish of Dinton
21st August 1797
John LIGHT  of this parish
Jane BAILEY  of the same
By Banns
Both marked X for there names.
Witnesses:  John BAKER,  John JESSE

John JESSE seems to have been a witness on a lot of these marriages so might not be a clue.

I don't know how you can be sure these are the right ones.  Does it show his parents names on his death cert., assuming it is in Australia?

hi There,
John Jesse may have been a clergyman or some other official in the church as it was usually the case when they witnessed a lot of marriages.
There is a family tree on familysearch.org but all of the other siblings are born in Fisherton Ayrshire  and I was very suspicious of the record.
There is no mention of his parents on any of his convict records and I do not have a copy of his death certificate at present. I will check out any more siblings for John light and Jane Bailey.
Thank you for you time and effort.
