Corpusty ROBERTSON
« on: Thursday 08 March 18 18:16 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I'm trying to find the baptism record of Amy ROBERTSON (DOB 1802 from 1841 census), and hence hence her parents names.  I have written down her parents as Simon and Mary Robertson but cannot find any evidence to back this up (& I cant remember where I got the information originally!)
I hope this post is okay as it is my first and thank you in advance for any help given!

Hi and welcome to rootschat  ;D

As the 1841 only tells you if the person was born in the county or not it would be unlikely you will find a baptism record as you do not know where in the county and/or which parish records to look in.

I am assuming she was not married in 1841. So have you checked the 1851 and later census to see if the county area she was born is narrowed down? Have you checked to see if/when she married and if her father is mentioned on the marriage?

Welcome to Rootschat.

A tree on Ancestry shows her parents as Simon Robertson (1772–1853) and Mary Regnolds
(1766–1849) However they don't state any sources. They have her marriage James Owen on the 22 Aug 1822 Heydon, Norfolk St Peter & St Paul's. Witnesses John Owen and Eliza Eke. Unfortunately this was before registration so there won't be a certificate.

Thank you Groom, that is probably where I got the names from. I was hoping that someone might have seen the baptism record which would confirm her parents.

Thank you Iluleah I have found her on subsequent census which told me she was from Corpusty, but no luck with her parents  :( either on the census or the marriage information (see Groom’s reply!) but thank you for the pointers.

Looking at all the trees on Ancestry they all have links to her marriage and death but none have her baptism, so it's possible that it isn't on line anywhere.

Hi if the Simon Robertson was supposedly still alive from the various trees in 1851, the only possible I can locate is a SYMOND Roberts 82 in Corpusty?
Census ref HO107/1810/236/22

If deaths as described, they are using Simon Roberts March qtr 1853 Aylsham aged 88, and that of Mary Roberts 1849 Aylsham aged 89?
