The Charlton RSL celebrates its centenary next year. As part of that event current members are trying to establish the identity of the original Committee Members.

I have attached a copy of the newspaper article from 1919 we are working from.
Some of the people I have been able to identify others not

President C Curnow (Clive William) 1891-1968
Vice President J Hedger (John Edward) 1895-1961
Secretary A Excell (Athol Frederick) 1897-
Treasurer H Peverill (Harold Joseph) 1887-1973
Committee:
K Kennedy - could be William Kenneth Kennedy 1890-1962
H Sunderland - could be Henry Christian Sutherland
A J Barber ( Alfred James) c 1880-1941
J Bedford - who appears to be the shop owner where the meeting to establish the branch was held
R Reeves
A Jolly
C Clark

Would SKS with access to Electoral Rolls be able to see if these people were residing in the Charlton district in 1919?

Dale

Watts Westcott Irwin Gammon - Devon
Marchment Gale - Wiltshire
MacLeod MacSwain- Raasay, Scotland
Gazzard Partridge - Essex
Grimmett Harris - Oxfordshire
Brien - London
Poyser - Staffordshire
Johns Morris - Glamorgan, Wales

Athol Frederick EXCELL enlisted in the Australian Army in 1915 aged 18 and a half years.  He was a bank clerk born in Charlton and his father, also of Charlton was his next of kin.

He was wounded. His full record can be seen here.
http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/search/

So it seems likely, but not certain the man was a resident of Charlton in 1919.

Athol's father was on the 1919 ER in Charlton, maybe Athol hadn't registered for the roll as yet!

One Alfred JOLLY enlisted in the Australian Army aged 26 years.
He was born in and enlisted in Charlton as a farm labourer.
His father Charles (Edit typo) George was his next of kin.

http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/search/

He is on the electoral Roll for the district of Wycheproof in 1919.
Others of the name are at the same address, including one named Charles (EDIT typo) George.

JOLLY, Alfred. Glenloth. Labourer.

Again possibly, but not certainly the A JOLLY in the OP.

The Alfred JOLLY I have mentioned died in 1950.

Alfred JOLLY
Age 61
At Kyneton, Victoria
Father's name George
Mother's name Christian Ross
Year 1950
Reg 18901

https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/22830326 category=Family+Notices

Death notice for Alfred JOLLY. Mentions his wife whom I believe was his second wife, the first having died in 1931. He had first married whilst on service.
