Content of Great Baddow parish records on IGI - for HYMAS
« on: Friday 09 March 18 12:56 GMT (UK) »
Can someone confirm whether the baptism records for the period 1780 - 1820 for Great Baddow that are within the IGI data available on line are the FULL parish records, and whether the content should be checked for reliability.
I have indicated a year range purely for my specific HYMAS research, looking for John  who we suspect has siblings Samuel, Anne and Henry ( DNA link )  baptised in the 1790's to Samuel (updated ) and Elizabeth. Our John  may well be a younger sibling, so it is possible he is in adjacent parishes, or even further afield.
He declared ( or rather it was recorded ) that his birth place was
Baddow , Great Baddow and Springfield in the 3 census entries 1851-61-71.
We believe he married Susan BIRD 5-1-1822 in Springfield.
The three possible siblings or cousins are
Henry 1792
Anne 1795
Samuel 1796

One of the witnesses at the Springfield marriage was a Samuel Hymas.

It would appear that Great Baddow Parish records baptisms on the IGI are consistently in the range 27-34 during the period 1784 through to Easter 1800, a couple of years had higher numbers, 1789-37, 1795-39,1796-42,1798-51.
The only births on the index 1801-1807 are Bapts taken place  with older children rather than infants. There are also a few non conformist and Quaker Bapts.
Earlier baptisms pre 1784 are assumed to be the full PR records existing.
I would therefore assume that I need to pursue these records via Essex Family  history groups or the Record office.

There are no other HYMAS baptisms, apart from the 3 you have mentioned, in Gt Baddow.

I'd suggest that you start looking at surrounding parishes for John Hymas.

Do you know where either Samuel (his father) or Elizabeth (his mother) died?

The IGI is here
https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/igi

I can only see "community contributed" entries for Great Baddow.
Great Baddow does have coverage in England, Essex Parish Registers, 1538-1997 (which is not the IGI)
https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/1465709

The only births on the index 1801-1807 are Bapts taken place  with older children rather than infants.

BT's for Great Baddow from 1800 are here
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9Q97-YSL7-MG9?i=1543&cc=1465710&cat=473742

With gaps, including 1809-12
