Can you purchase a marriage certificate even if you don't know ref nos but do know names of both parties.

You need to give an idea of the year with questions like this but basically yes you can.

Many Marrage Certs are free to view online at Irish Genealogy have you checked there?

Even as early as 1858 I meant to say.

Not yet should have them from 1845 by the end of this year, but as athacliath62 has said it depends on the domination of the church they belonged to.

They were Catholics so would I have to try for a church for record of the marriage rather than go for a certificate.Just  check all the Catholic churches for that area.
