Old Ardwick
« on: Friday 09 March 18 15:18 GMT (UK) »
Hi All,

I am searching for any information on the following two buildings in Higher Ardwick.

1. There was a school in Harkness Street (which is just off Ardwick Green). Its not been a school for some years but the building is still there and is used as a clothing factory.
2. There was an old drill hall on Hyde Road (next to the Apollo and not the listed building at the far end of Ardwick Green). I understand that it was the Artillery drill hall. Does anyone know when it became a sports hall (1970's?) although its use is industrial now?

I have searched for photographs of the above but so far without success.

Thanks,
Paul

The school was the R.C. Park Street St Aloysius's, mixed and infants, School. Harkness Street was originally Park Street. See https://www.old-maps.co.uk/index.html#/Map/385530/397139/12/100674

Many thanks.
Any idea where I might find an image?
